UVI President Dr. David Hall cut the ribbon marking the grand opening of UVI's newest residence hall - West Hall - on the St. Thomas campus on Thursday, Sept. 6. Shown, from left, are Senator Patrick Sprauve, Representative Donna Christensen, Senate President Ronald Russell, Lt. Gov. Gregory Francis, Resident Assistant Joel Lee, Dr. Hall, Student Government Association President Leslyn Tonge and UVI Board of Trustee Chair Alexander Moorhead. Students Lee and Tonge each joined the day’s main speakers, Dr. Hall, Congresswoman Christensen, Lt. Gov. Francis, Senator Russell and Trustee Chair Moorhead, during presentations which preceded the ribbon cutting ceremony. The first 96 students moved into state-of-the-art, 100-bed, four-story, air conditioned facility early this semester. Students, faculty, staff, government representatives and invited guests turned out for an afternoon of grand-opening tours.
